LOPP chemotherapy as a first‐line treatment for dogs with T‐cell lymphoma

Abstract: LOPP chemotherapy for T cell lymphoma is well tolerated with a low toxicity profile and an excellent overall response rate. This protocol showed minimal toxicity and comparable disease free interval and survival times for canine high grade T cell lymphoma treated with CHOP.

“…These survival times are longer than any previously published on dogs with T cell lymphoma. Brown et al performed a similar study investigating the use of a modified LOPP protocol in 31 dogs and found a median disease‐free interval of 176 days (range 0‐1745) and MST of 323 days (range 51‐1758). The current study found increased survival times using a similar LOPP based protocol as the one used in Brown's study, compared with older protocols.…”

“…The current study had a 2‐year PFS of 29%. Other papers reported 2‐year survival rates, Brown et al had 25% and Goodman et al had 20% and Brodsky et al had 25% of dogs alive at 939 days (2.5 years) …”

“…).The high‐grade T‐cell form may carry a worse prognosis although newer protocols rich in alkylating agents have demonstrated comparable survival times (Brown et al . ). However, extranodal lymphoma such as hepatic, hepatosplenic and gastrointestinal are less frequently described in the dog; these are mainly T‐cell tumours and often associated with poor outcome (Frank et al .…”
