Peri‐implantitis: A bibliometric network analysis of top 100 most‐cited research articles

Abstract: Background: Over the past decades, there has been an increase in research publications focusing on peri-implantitis. When facing limited healthcare resources, bibliometric analyses can guide researchers and funding parties toward areas where reallocation or more focus on research activity is warranted. The main objective of this study was to identify the trends of the top 100 cited articles on peri-implantitis research as the first study of its kind. Methods: A Web of Science search, using the keywords "peri-im… Show more

“…This is composed of combining bibliometric, Altmetric and LOE data, to unravel the horizons of the history of research on IIP. Particularly, this allowed for simultaneously analyzing and exploring both conventional metrics such as citation count and H‐index (Sabri & Wang, 2023) with more recently developed digital metrics such as the AAS which corresponds to the “attention” given to an article via social media and digital platforms. To the best of the authors' knowledge this is the first report of its kind, implementing this approach in the field of Periodontics and implant dentistry.…”

“…Bibliometric network analyses have become an increasingly popular approach to obtain the aforementioned parameters (Collins et al., 2021; Kocyigit & Akyol, 2021; Liao et al., 2018). There have been several such analyses in the field of implant dentistry (Borges et al., 2021, 2022; Chiang et al., 2018; Dini et al., 2022; Lorusso et al., 2020; Sabri & Wang, 2023; Tarazona‐Álvarez et al., 2021). In essence, this methodology subjects a variety of publication types and report media such as books, research articles, and/or communication media to statistical methods and analyses for a comprehensive outlook of a certain field or topic (Donthu et al., 2021).…”
