QTL mapping based on the embryo and maternal genetic systems for non‐essential amino acids in rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) meal

Abstract: Non-essential amino acids in rapeseed meal could be simultaneously controlled by the genetic effects from the QTLs which were located on the chromosomes both in the embryo and maternal plant genetic systems.

“…Palmitic acid (C16:0 ) is the most common saturated fatty acid found in animals, plants, and microorganisms and is also the precursor to longer fatty acids ( 113 ). Many QTLs have been reported in major oilseed crops such as peanut ( 65 , 66 ), soybean ( 83 ), and B. napus ( 87 , 89 , 95 , 96 , 100 ) for this trait. The details of the marker linked to palmitic acid content are given in Table 1 .…”

“…In B. napus , QTLs were identified for lysine, threonine, and methionine content (qLysC-16-3, qThrC-12-5, and qMetC-9-5) in DH lines on chromosomes C6, C2, and A9 ( 93 ). In B. napus , arginine, histidine, glutamic acid, glycine, alanine, and aspartic acid content was improved through QTLs such as qArgC-8-5, qHisC-4-3, qGluC-1-1, qGlyC-4-1, qProC-1-1, qAlaC-7-3 , and qAspC-9-4 in BC lines on chromosomes A1, A4, A7, A8, and A9 ( 100 ). The details of the linked markers to these QTLs are given in Table 1 .…”

“…Few reports have focused on the identification of QTL associated with total seed protein in canola (Schatzki et al, 2014 ; Chao et al, 2017 ; Behnke et al, 2018 ). Even fewer reports of QTL are associated with amino acid (Wen et al, 2016 ). Brassica quality breeding programs have made efforts to increase protein content and improve the composition of essential amino acids such as lysine (Falco et al, 1995 ; Wang et al, 2011 ) and methionine (Kohno-Murase et al, 1995 ; Galvez et al, 2008 ).…”

“…In contrast, comparatively few reports have focused on the identification of QTL associated with total seed protein in canola [ 145 , 148 , 149 , 155 ]. Even fewer are reports of QTL associated with protein quality traits such as SSP composition [ 155 ] and amino acid content [ 156 ].…”

“…Correlations between markers and phenotypic data are performed using various statistical methods [ 286 ]. Linkage mapping has been successfully employed in canola to identify molecular markers that co-segregate with total seed protein [ 145 , 146 , 147 , 148 , 149 ], seed storage protein content [ 155 ], and non-essential amino acid content [ 156 ].…”
