SERPINA5 promotes tumour cell proliferation by modulating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signalling pathway in gastric cancer

Abstract: SERPINA5 belongs to the serine protease inhibitor superfamily and has been reported to be lowly expressed in a variety of malignancies. However, few report of SERPINA5 in gastric cancer has been found. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of SERPINA5 in GC and to investigate potential tumorigenic mechanisms. We performed qPCR to determine the level of SERPINA5 expression in GC. We used public databases to evaluate whether SERPINA5 could be utilized to predict overall survival and disease‐free su… Show more

“…SERPINA5 has an important role in tumors, including prevention of metastasis and antiangiogenesis and inhibition of tumor growth by modulating the fibronectin-integrin beta1 signaling pathway in hepatocellular carcinoma . The abundance of these proteins was higher in BRW and WCB compared to that in BAW, suggesting that BRW and WCB may have higher anticoagulant, antitumor, and anti-inflammatory activity.…”

“…In the present study, downregulation of A2M might reduce liver fibrosis, suggesting that A2M is a novel biomarker target of sericin. SERPINA5, Serine Proteinase Inhibitor Clade A Member 5, is a major anticoagulant protease that can suppress activated protein C. Fan et al showed that SERPINA5 enhances tumor cell proliferation by regulating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway in gastric cancer 21 . Zhang et al revealed that SERPINA5 was upregulated in liver metastatic cancer tissues 22 .…”

“… 26 Furthermore, the SERPINA5 gene has been associated with the promotion of gastric cancer cell proliferation. 27 Additionally, this gene also plays a significant role in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. 28 The detection of CMSS1-SHANK2 fusion genes and SERPINA5-Intergenic fusion sequences in HBV-HCC for the first time in this study, coupled with their high detection rate in HBV-HCC patients, suggests their potential as novel detection sites or biomarkers for HBV-HCC.…”
