Screening and evaluation of antioxidant activity of some pyridazine derivatives

Abstract: Antioxidants are compounds that can delay, inhibit, or prevent the oxidation of materials that can be oxidized by scavenging free radicals and help in diminishing oxidative stress. They belong to different chemical classes. Recently there are studies related to pyridazinone derivatives for their antioxidant activities. Since there are evidences implicates reactive oxygen species and nitric oxide as mediators of inflammation and/or tissue damage in inflammatory and arthritic disorders it was though that compoun… Show more

“…Of the tested compounds, 1 mg/mL 5-methylidene-1-phenyltetrahydropyridazine-3,6-dione (5a) showed a better radical scavenging capacity than the standard glutathione. This enhanced activity could be due to the presence of acidic protons in its pyridazine moiety [21]. The compounds 3a, 6a, and 8a also showed moderate activity due to the presence of imide, pyridazine and imidazole functionalities in these molecules.…”

“…Of the tested compounds, 5-methylidene-1-phenyltetrahydropyridazine-3,6-dione (5a), 2-methylidene-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[1,2-a]benzimidazol-1-one (8a) and 2-methylidene-7-(phenylcarbonyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[1,2-a]benzimidazol-1-one (8b) showed good NO scavenging ability at a concentration of 1 mg/mL in comparison with the standard glutathione. Such enhanced activity could be due to the presence of a pyridazine and imidazole moiety [21,25]. Compounds 3b, 3c, 3e, 4a, and 4b also showed moderate activity due to the presence of imide functionality.…”
