Screw-retained zirconia crowns on implants manufacturing by microlayer method

Abstract

Screw-retained zirconia crowns with a titanium base are one of the options for implant reconstruction which enables the mapping of the emergence profile in detail and the creation of conditions to correctly shape the biological width around the implant. Their construction consists of two elements: the first is a titanium base and the second is a zirconia crown. The titanium base is in direct contact with the implant and its platform. The second element is the zirconia part, properly designed and manufactured in CAD/CAM technology. The zirconia element of the entire restoration is divided into the transmucosal and the supragingival part because they each have different principles for their designing and preparation. The purpose of this article is to present the stages of designing and fabricating screw-retained zirconia crown using a microlayer method. This type of crowns, thanks to the appropriate design and material processing of transmucosal elements, provide proper support for soft tissues.
