For example, Cross et al demonstrated that Pseudomonas species could be isolated from water on faucet aerators (8), and others have isolated Flavobacterium species (10,12). Frequent cleaning of faucet screens, flushing of storage tanks, and, in cases of severe contamination, intermittent chlorination of rural water supplies would help eliminate various contaminants from the water and therefore lower the possibility of waterborne illness.…”
