SDHB Suppresses the Tumorigenesis and Development of ccRCC by Inhibiting Glycolysis

Abstract: Metabolic reprogramming is the prominent feature of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Succinate dehydrogenase subunit B (SDHB) is one of subunits of mitochondrial respiratory chain complex II. The loss of SDHB function is closely related with metabolic changes in kidney cancer cells. However, the role and molecular mechanism of SDHB in ccRCC occurrence and progression are still unclear. In this study, the results of bioinformatics analyses on GEO, TCGA and oncomine databases and immunohistochemistry sho… Show more

“…In addition, this study revealed that the expression of SDH genes is significantly correlated with the infiltration levels of B cells and CD4 + T cells in ccRCC. Therefore, SDH genes participate in the tumorigenesis of ccRCC and may serve as a potential prognostic biomarker in ccRCC, which is partly consistent with Fang’s study [ 52 ]. Notably, our findings suggest that all the four subunits are closely linked to ccRCC progression.…”

“…According to histopathological classification, RCC has three main subtypes: papillary renal cell carcinoma, clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), and chromophobe cell renal carcinoma. Among them, ccRCC is the most frequent histological subtype, accounting for 80-90% [ 2 ]. Clinically, due to no evident symptoms at early stage and insufficient specific diagnostic markers, 20-30% of ccRCC patients have been in advanced-stage and developed metastasis when diagnosed [ 3 ].…”
