“…The acquired data correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 7.5 fb −1 . Searches for the standard model Higgs boson using the same final state have been reported before by CDF [13,14] and D0 [15] with data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.6 fb −1 and 5.3 fb −1 , respectively. Compared to the previously reported analysis, we have employed a Bayesian artificial neural network (BNN) discriminant [16,17] to improve discrimination between signal and background.…”

“…For dijet data, a jet [4] with transverse momentum p T > 20 GeV and |η| < 2.5 is selected, then a preselected EM cluster is selected in the opposite azimuthal plane with |∆φ(jet, EM)| > 2.9 radian as the jets misidentified as electrons or photons. To eliminate possible contamination from diboson, Z + jets and W + jets processes, events with at least one isolated high-p T muon [5], events with an invariant mass of the EM cluster and an isolated track between 60 and 120 GeV, and events with missing transverse energy [6] greater than 10 GeV are rejected. For studies of jets misidentified as photons, the γ + jet component containing a real photon is removed from the dijet sample by requiring that the EM cluster be nonisolated by cutting on the shower isolation fraction (see Sect.…”

“…We then perform the final normalization of the V þ jets and MJ backgrounds via a simultaneous fit to data in the M W T distribution after subtracting the other SM background predictions from the data as described in Refs. [14,19,20]. The distribution of M W T after this normalization procedure is shown in Fig.…”

“…The results presented here supersede previous searches by the D0 Collaboration, presented in Refs. [16][17][18][19][20], which used subsamples of the data presented in this article. They also supersede a previous search for Higgs boson production in the ' jj final state by the D0 Collaboration [21].…”
