“…Liriomyza sativae Blanchard (Diptera: Agromyzidae) is a polyphagous insect pest that harms vegetables and ornamental crops worldwide (Johnson, Welter, Toscano, Ting, & Trumble, 1983; Murphy & Lasalle, 1999). As an obligatory internal plant feeder, the larvae feed on leaf mesophyll by mining the leaves, whereas female adults puncture the foliage surface with their ovipositors for feeding and oviposit in these punctures, causing a decrease in photosynthesis and an increase in bacterial and fungal diseases (Banchio, Valladares, Defago, Palacios, & Carpinella, 2003; Kathiar, Flaih, Al‐Khazraji, & Ismael, 2018; Parrella, Jones, Youngman, & Lebeck, 1985; Salama, Ismail, Fouda, Ebadah, & Shehata, 2015; Zehnder & Trumble, 1984). The overuse of chemical insecticides has caused the rapid development of resistance to these chemicals (Askari‐Saryazdi, Hejazi, Ferguson, & Rashidi, 2015; Devkota et al, 2016; Wei, Lei, Nauen, Cai, & Gao, 2014).…”
