Seasonal variation in salivary cortisol but not symptoms of depression and trait anxiety in pregnant women undergoing an elective caesarean section

Abstract: HighlightsFew studies take into account the impact of season on pregnancy cohort data.No evidence of seasonality in customised birth weight or placental weight.No evidence of seasonality in maternally reported symptoms of anxiety/depression.Season of birth linked to term maternal salivary cortisol levels.Maternal cortisol higher in autumn/winter compared to spring/summer.
