Aims: The present study was carried out to investigate the impact of vulnerability on livelihood of fishers of Ratnagiri, Maharashtra state of India. Study Design: For this study interview schedule was used to collect the fisher information. Place and Duration of Study: In present study, the data were collected from the fishers of the three fishing villages of Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra during the year 2019-2020. Methodology: The data were randomly collected from 64 fisher by using questionnaire in the Google form and interview schedule. The vulnerability variables considered in this study are categorised as natural shocks like cyclones, heavy rain, environmental changes; personal factors like illness, sea accidents, sudden death, social conflicts and seasonality includes decline in fish catches, unpredictable price fall and non-availability of markets. The opinions of respondents with respect to vulnerability factors were recorded on the basis of three categories i.e. high impact, medium impact and low impact. The descriptive statistics i.e. percentage and frequency analysis was used to represent the results. Results: The overall results of vulnerability indicated that the natural shocks factors like cyclones, heavy rain, environmental changes and personal factors like illness, sea accidents, sudden death, social conflicts have high impact on more than 90% respondents; while seasonality factors like decline in fish catches, unpredictable price fall and non-availability of markets have high impact on livelihood of about 70% fishers respondents. Conclusion: The respondents reported that the various factors of vulnerability have direct impact on livelihood of fishers and ultimately socioeconomic conditions of the fishers.

Boat Lift Net is one of the active fishing gears in the West Coast, Sumatera Utara with the main catch of Sardinella (Sardinella sp.). Fishermen from Boat Lift Net fishing gear still use traditional methods in the form of natural signs at certain times to look for fish. This has an impact on the effectiveness of fishing which is less accurate. This study seeks to identify the fishing season index for Sardinella (Sardinella sp.) by analyzing the catch and the quantity of fishing trips. The method of determining the fishing season index in Western Waters provides an accurate fishing season for fishermen. The results of the analysis of the fishing season index of 2018-2022 in Western Waters show that the peak season of Sardinella (Sardinella sp.) fishing occurs in June-October which occurs in the eastern season to the middle of the second transitional season and in April in the first transitional season. The highest fishing season index for tembang (Sardinella sp.) was recorded in September, at the start of transition season II, with a value of 124.27%. Conversely, the lowest index value was observed in November, at the end of transition season II, with a value of 82.5%.

Skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) is the main catch species in Indonesian Palabuhanratu waters. The dynamics of skipjack fishing areas are influenced by oceanographic parameters such as sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a concentration. This study aims to predict the skipjack fishing season, analyze the dynamics of oceanographic conditions, especially the distribution of sea surface temperature and the distribution of chlorophyll-a, and determine the relationship between skipjack fishing season and the dynamics of the distribution of sea surface temperature and the distribution of chlorophyll-a in the waters of Palabuhanratu, West Java. Catch per unit effort analysis was used to determine the fishing season index, while the dynamics of sea surface temperature and distribution of chlorophyll-a were analyzed from MODIS image data. The results showed that skipjack fishing season in Palabuhanratu waters was from July to November. Monthly sea surface temperatures range from 26-30℃ with an average value of 29℃. The distribution value of chlorophyll-a concentration ranged from 0.09 mg/m3 to 0.51 mg/m3 with an average value of 0.23 mg/m3. Skipjack tuna production tends to increase when sea surface temperatures are low and chlorophyll-a concentrations increase.
