Second order statistics of the SC receiver over Rician fading channels in the presence of multiple Nakagamim interferers

Abstract: SUMMARYIn this paper, a numerical approach to the performance analysis of a signal-to-interference-based selection combining receiver, operating over a Rician multipath-fading environment, in the presence of multiple Nakagami-m cochannel interferers is provided. Closed form expressions are obtained for the first-order and second-order statistical measures, that is, the probability density function, cumulative distribution function, and average level-crossing rate of the received signal. Further, the aforementi… Show more

“…Furthermore, the first-order statistics of hybrid dual-hop FSO REC communications assisted by RF link are investigated in References 26,27. Although the papers by Miridakis and Tsiftsis and Boluda-Ruiz et al 28,29 have investigated different diversity techniques for application in cooperative FSO REC systems, the best path selection diversity at reception due to its relatively easier implementation is one of the most investigated and applied techniques by researchers. [30][31][32][33][34] The first-order statistical measures are important performance criteria in wireless communications. On the other hand, the second-order statistics such as level crossing rate (LCR) and average fade duration (AFD) are useful performance criteria and crucial for designing communication systems in highly dynamical time-variant fading channels.…”

“…Depending on the nature of the radio propagation environment, short‐term signal envelope variations can be modelled with Rayleigh, Rician, Weibull, and Nakagami‐ m distribution . Slow variations of average power of signal due to shadowing are often modelled with lognormal distribution .…”

“…Morover, SC and SSC are often considered diversity techniques ( (Zhang et al, 2014), (Milic et al, 2016), (Stefanovic et al, 2013), (Zhao et al, 2015)). Gamma distribution is proposed, with the tendency of obtaining closed form solutions due to its mathematical tractability.…”
