“…This result strongly suggested that kaempferol contributed to MFM schistosomicidal activity. Braguine et al [ 41 ] showed that this compound is able to separate coupled S. mansoni adult worms and to kill adult schistosomes in vitro at 100 ÎŒ M. Also, there are reports on the antihelminthic activity of ursolic acid [ 42 ], but, according to Alvarenga et al [ 43 ], this compound is not active against S. mansoni adult worms. However, it is noteworthy to mention the well-documented hepatoprotective properties of ursolic acid, due to the enhancement of the body defense systems [ 44 ], which might have contributed to the lack of alterations in liver function of infected and noninfected mice treated with MFM.…”
