Secure Electronic Voting Machine using Multi-Modal Biometric Authentication System, Data Encryption, and Firewall

Abstract: Electronic voting machines have replaced paper ballot systems, which were being used in early Indian elections. But, with the advancement of technology, a series of security issues have been raised regarding the present voting system, such as EVM tamp ering in order to register fraudulent votes. The proposed system attempts to solve the problem of bogus voting by introdu cing a multi-modal biometric authentication system. It makes the voting system more secure by using data encryption and firewalls to protect … Show more

“…This challenge can be addressed by ensuring that voters are whom they claim to be during voter registration and voting session. Thus, several authentication methods including typical biometric features, multi-modal biometric authentication, two-factor authentication, and blockchain have been proposed and developed to reinforce the security of e-voting systems [1,2,5,6,8,16,31,32,35,40,59]. Although, hand gesture recognition wearable glove-based sensor approach and the camera vision-based sensor approach [25] as well as [60] can also be applied for the deaf with appropriate design considerations.…”

“…On the application of biometric to e-voting security, [8] proposed a secured electronic voting system that attempted to prevent bogus voting using a multi-modal biometric authentication system. Also, the architecture of the proposed system could mitigate adversary attacks through firewalls and encryption of vital data.…”
