Sediment properties related to prediction of embedment and penetration depth of objects into the seafloor off the Farallon Islands, California

Abstract: This report presents the findings of a laboratory testing program that was performed on three short sediment cores that were obtained at different water depths south west of the Farallon Islands. Results from index property, consolidation, and triaxial compression strength tests enabled an evaluation to be made of the relative penetrability of the sediment at the three sites.
