SEED YIELD AND QUALITY OF SUNFLOWER (Helianthus annuus L.) AS INFLUENCED BY INTEGRATED MINERAL AND ORGANIC NITROGEN FERTILIZATION SYSTEMS

Abstract: Two field experiments were conducted during the two successive seasons of 2013 and 2014 at El-Gemmeiza Research Station (30º ‫׳74‬ ‫״5.22‬ N, 31° ‫׳70‬ ‫״43‬ E, elev. 10 m), Agriculture Research Center, El-Gharbia Governorate, Egypt to study the effect of integrated fertilization of N-mineral and organic fertilizer combined with bio fertilizer (including the genera Azotobacter and Azospirillium) on sunflower (c.v. Sakha 53) seed yield and quality. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block desi… Show more

“…These results may be due to the stimulation relation between nitrogen and phosphorus nutrient. These results are in agreement with those of Abd El-Rahman, et al (2016). The highest phosphorus uptake by seeds (12.53 kg fed -1 ) was recorded with 40 kg N fed -1 .…”

“…Biological yield increased with all used treatments and their interactions over control treatment where it increased by 26.4% and 25.9% with the treatment of 40 and 60 kg N fed -1 respectively, compared with control (N0). These results are in the same line with Abd El-Rahman, et al (2016). On the other hand, the interaction between nitrogen rates and organic fertilizers (Fig.5) significantly increased biological yield (kg fed -1 ).…”

“…These results are consistent with (17,20). The results in Table (2) may be attributed to the increase in the number of leaves and, thus increase in the leaf area, which led to raising the efficiency of the plant, including an increase in the concentration of elements, increasing the concentration of nutrients inside the plant and converting it into carbohydrates and protein materials that transferred to the seeds in the phase of filling the seeds 17,22,23 .…”

“…They also added that seed yield was not significantly affected by the microorganisms when added alone. Abd El-Rahman et al (2016) partially substituted the recommended mineral N rate of 30kg N/fed with organic N fertilizer as compost combined with biofertilizer. Their results revealed that application of 15kg N/fed +25% compost +Bio significantly improved yield and yield attributes and protein and oil yields as compared to 100% compost or 30kg N/fed alone.…”
