Abstract:In bridge engineering, the use of precast post‐tensioned segmental (PPS) piers is increasingly expanding due to the Accelerated Bridge Construction viewpoint. Recent experimental and numerical researches have studied general seismic performance and nonlinear behavior of PPS piers without much attention to segment arrangements or joint openings. The aim of this paper is to utilize innovative segment arrangements to reduce the residual deformation, without reducing the energy dissipation capacity of PPS piers wi… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
