“…Numerous researches on the steel plate shear wall have been conducted where experimental studies on the flat steel plate shear walls (FSPSWs) have been performed under cyclic loading (Caccese et al ., , Driver et al ., , Timler et al ., , Topkaya and Kurban, ). Moreover, analytical studies on the shear buckling characteristics and behavior of the multistory thin steel shear wall have been conducted as well (Roberts, , Timler et al ., , Sabouri‐Ghomi et al ., , Bhowmick et al ., , Berman, ). The shear buckling behavior of the steel plate is the main concerns of the FSPSWs.…”

“…For dynamic phenomena, using dynamic constitutive relation is more rational than using static constitutive relation, and the mechanism lies in that the stiffness matrix is relative to strain rate. Bhowmick et al investigated the effect of loading rate on the dynamic behavior of steel plate shear wall by the non-linear dynamic analysis using the ABAQUS software, which revealed that the ductility of structure reduced and the average flexural demand at the base of the wall increased with higher strain rates (Bhowmick et al [21]). In this paper, we studied the effect of strain rate on the collapse mode and collapse-resistant capacity of transmission tower-line system under earthquake.…”

“…The basic form of these empirical equations is related to the height of the building, which is T = C t H x or T = C t H , where C t and x are constants depend on the structural type of buildings . Though the empirical equations seem simple, the period results of SPSW structures derived from these equations are conservative in most cases , especially for buildings in low to moderate earthquake regions. Based on the equations in codes, Bhowmick et al corrected the values of C t and x via a regression analysis of various data.…”
