“…Because of the weight capacity limitation and the shaking table's overturning moment, the valve hall supporting the wall bushing was replaced by a steel supporting frame. The amplification effect of the valve hall's gable wall on the seismic responses of the wall bushing was considered by multiplying the input ground motions by an amplification factor of 2 (He et al 2019). Before the test, the resonance frequencies of the supporting frame were investigated by FE analysis.…”

“…According to the Chinese GB 50260 standard (MOHURD 2013), the target peak ground acceleration (PGA) of the test should be 0.4 g. The FE model of the UHV wall bushing-valve hall system has been established in our previous research. The interaction between the wall bushing and valve hall and the amplification effect has been analyzed (He et al 2019). In this UHV direct current project, after the seismic design of the valve hall, the stress amplification factor was less than 2, which means that the amplification factor of the valve hall to the wall bushing can be set as 2 (He et al 2019).…”

“…Nevertheless, little attention has been paid to wall bushings, which play an indispensable role in connecting converter valves inside valve hall buildings with other electric facilities using an outdoor direct current (DC) field (He et al, 2019). The seismic performance of wall bushings is therefore of serious concern and requires further study.…”
