Seismic sedimentary characteristics and filling structure of the Upper Triassic Yanchang Formation, Ordos Basin, China

Abstract: Following the analysis of cores, outcrops, well log, and seismic sections, we have studied the seismic reflection configuration and depositional history of the hydrocarbon-rich Yanchang Formation in the Ordos Basin. We divided the seismic reflection configurations into five types: subparallel reflection, parallel reflection, tangential progradational reflection, shingled progradational reflection, and chaotic reflection. Based on our study results, we concluded that the slopes exhibit differences in the differ… Show more

“…In areas with no, or few, wells, sedimentary systems can be effectively analyzed by comprehensive classification of seismic facies types based on seismic reflection configuration, amplitude, frequency, continuity, etc. Sedimentary characteristics and sedimentary environment can be restored accordingly (Zeng et al, 2015;Feng et al, 2020;Zhu et al, 2020). The seismic facies of the Enping Formation in the study area exhibits five types of reflection: wedge reflection, high amplitude parallel sheet reflection, medium amplitude sub-parallel sheet reflection, low amplitude sub-parallel sheet reflection, and vermicular reflection.…”
