Seismic Stability of Loess Tunnel with Rainfall Seepage

Abstract: Rainfall seepage changes the mechanical properties of loess masses. Considering fluid-solid coupling, the calculation model of a loess tunnel is established according to the finite element method (FEM). Based on porous media seepage theory and rainfall infiltration depth theory and considering the infiltrated depth of the loess surface for different rainfall intensities over a certain period, the stability of a loess tunnel under different rainfall amounts and loess cover thicknesses is studied using the dynam… Show more

“…In the seepage monitoring of earth and rockfill dam, models grounded in numerical simulations as well as those derived from actual monitoring data are both pivotal for the stability warning of earth and rockfill dam seepage.Numerous studies have employed numerical techniques to explore the dynamics of precipitation infiltration in slopes (Johari and Talebi, 2019;Cheng et al, 2020b;Tian et al, 2017;Leshchinsky et al, 2015;Xu et al, 2005;Moayedi et al, 2011). These studies highlight that the outcomes of such calculations are highly dependent on the chosen models and parameters, often resulting in extensive computation times.…”
