Selected aspects of apoptosis in psoriasis

“…However, there are no significant differences in Bcl-2 expression in the epidermis or Bcl-2 levels in the serum of patients with psoriasis compared to healthy individuals. Indeed, the presence of proteins from the Bcl-2 family in the epidermis may not be the sole determinant, but rather their relative ratios and the predominance of one over the others likely play a meaningful role [16]. In psoriasis, keratinocytes produce various chemokines, such as CCL20 and CXCL10, which recruit Th1/Tc1 and Th17 cells [17].…”

“…One of the critical processes whose disorder is observed in the course of psoriasis is the loss of the balance between the process of apoptosis and cell proliferation [3,24]. As part of this work, we decided to evaluate the effect of adalimumab therapy on the gene expression profile that is involved in apoptosis in patients with psoriatic arthritis and in healthy volunteers.…”

“…The anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family of proteins regulates this type of path. Bid, Bad, Bak, and Bax are examples of pro-apoptotic proteins [3].…”

“…Apoptosis is an active process whose induction begins after the action of the appropriate stimulus. This process is regulated by many factors, including the BCL‐2 family of proteins (Myśliwiec, Baran, & Flisiak, ). Antiapoptotic proteins belong to this group of proteins, an example of which is the Bcl‐xL protein that is encoded by the BCL2L1 gene.…”
