“…Similarly, our results demonstrated that chlorophyll (Chl a, Chl b) content declined after continuous cropping. One study showed the level of antioxidant enzymes SOD and the stress marker malonaldehyde (MDA) in the cells reflected the degree of oxidative damage [ 16 , 19 ]. In the present study, LZ significantly reduced the SOD activity and enhanced the MDA content, suggesting that the reduced SOD activity causing oxidative damage was indicated by increased malonaldehyde (MDA) contents.…”

“…The community became more diverse with the addition of an algicide due to the increase in the number of species from the order Chlorophyta. Other studies have found that when plant-derived active compounds prevented cyanobacteria and microalgae blooms, phytoplankton diversity and species homogeneity increased [ 17 ].…”

“…One of the most active areas of practical aquatic ecology and water management is the suppression of cyanobacteria and microalgae by active compounds (allelochemicals) of macrophyte origin or their synthetic equivalents [ 17 , 35 , 36 , 37 ]. Synthetic active compounds with good biological safety, similar to macrophyte metabolites, and pronounced specific action against cyanobacteria make them promising for use in HAB suppression.…”

“…A quantity of studies had been widely used to find efficient molecular structures as potential algicides. The 1,3,4-thiadiazole/oxadiazole/triazole skeleton has been favored by researchers because of its biological activities with a series of different abilities, such as antibacterial, antiviral, analgesic, antipsychotic, antiallergic, antitumor, and anti-inflammatory . In particular, the recent literature showed that the heterocyclic compounds containing phenyl substituents had significant anti-insect and antibacterial activities (Figure A). Based on these good results, we have carried out an in-depth study on the algicidal effect of phenyl substituted heterocyclic modified molecules in order to find new and efficient algicidal agents and open up a new way for bioactive substrates.…”
