Selection of Optimal Machining Strategy in the Manufacture of Elements Bounded by Curvilinear Surfaces

Abstract: Increasing machining accuracy realized on CNC machine tools causes that the more frequently surfaces machined with this technique are not subject to further finishing processing and directly affects on the final quality of the product. Achieving geometric accuracy established by the constructor is the problem that modern technologists and CAD/CAM programmers have to faced with. The paper presents the influence of toolpath tolerance and machining strategy available in CAD/CAM software on the constituting proces… Show more

“…Compared to similar work in 3D printing and tool path planning, ring pass selection is similar to machining spiral strategy [24] but differs by GPU simulation for path planning of selected ring set cover of model in software visualization. The number of ring distribution and ring cover set is selected based on the step over distance of path patterns users prefer.…”

“…The techniques also have applications beyond inflatable structures-any non-uniform tubular substrate can be printed on, and this has great potential in bio-fabrication and bio-plotting applications, 12 along with printed electronics in robotics and structural monitoring. 13 In additive manufacturing, it is necessary to maintain a strict constant velocity of the print nozzle over the substrate surface (this is in contrast to subtractive manufacturing techniques, where four-axis CNC milling is common [14][15][16] ). If the substrate is a constant radius cylinder, this is straightforward to achieve.…”
