“…The confidence interval (CI) is determined to evaluate the proximity of observed S/N ratio ( ηobs) value with that of predicted value ( ηopt) and is given by . ±CI=F(1,ve)Vetrue(1neff+1nvertrue) where F(1,ve) is the value of F table at desired confidence level at degrees of freedom of 1 degrees of freedom of error, Ve is mean of square of error, neff=N1+v, N is the total trial number in orthogonal array, v is total of the degrees of freedom of p factors ( p is number of main design parameter) and nver is the confirmatory test run number.…”

“…Dave et al (2012) proposed the application Taguchi loss function as a multi-response optimization tool for electro discharge machining (EDM) operation of Inconel 718 alloy. Gaitonde and Karnik (2012) employed Taguchi quality loss function approach to identify the best combination of cutting speed, feed, point angle and lip clearance angle for specified drill diameters to simultaneously minimize burr height and burr thickness during drilling of AISI 316L stainless steel work materials. Kumar and Kumari (2012) applied fuzzy logic and Taguchi quality loss function for modelling and simultaneous optimization of multiple performance characteristics, such as MRR and SR of polycrystalline diamond in an ultrasonic machining (USM) process.…”

“…The following section provides a brief description along with mathematical formulations on the procedural steps of utility theory. The preliminaries of Taguchi philosophy, concept of quadratic quality loss function, signal-to-noise (S/N ratio) and the steps involved in Taguchi's optimization module could be well articulated from [8,20].…”
