Selection of recycling centre locations by using the interval type-2 fuzzy sets and two-objective genetic algorithm

Abstract: In the sense of contemporary industrial challenges, it may be said that many issues in the field of recycling may be analysed. In this paper, the model for choosing locations for construction of recycling centres equipped with new technology is proposed. The considered problem may be stated as a two-objective optimization problem, if the optimization criteria are presented as total distance and the overall suitability index sum. The relative importance and values of possible locations’ attributes are described… Show more

“…The AHP method [69] has been widely used for various decision-making problems. Its extensions have been applied in numerous papers, for example, FAHP with Triangular fuzzy numbers, developed in [70] and used in [71,72]; FAHP with Trapezoidal fuzzy numbers applied in [73,74]; FAHP with the interval type-2 triangular or trapezoidal fuzzy numbers used in [75,76]; FAHP with TIFNs developed in [77] and used in [68,[78][79][80][81], etc.…”

“…Qin et al proposed TODIM, which handles information in the form of crisp numbers [68]. Two years after TODIM, Tadić et al [69] conducted the most recent study on the selection of the most appropriate locations by a two-objective genetic algorithm (GA) and they claimed this is the most suitable method for the same routing issues. GA is a fruitful method to find the optimal solution; and Arsovski et al [70] also used a combination of the fuzzy group decision-making problem and GA.…”

“…Numerous metaheuristic methods for solving NP problems have been developed in the literature (Sadigh, Mokhtari, Iranpoor & Ghomi, 2012). Using the Genetic Algorithm (GA), which is the most used method, a near-optimal solution is given (Senvar, Turanoglu & Kahraman, 2013;Nestic, Stefanovic, Djordjevic, Arsovski & Tadic, 2015;Rezoug, Bader-El-Den & Boughaci, 2018;Tadić, Djordjević, Aleksić & Nestić, 2019;Lu, Pei, Liu, Qian, Mladenovic & Pardalos, 2020;Gojković, Djurić, Tadić, Nestić & Aleksić, 2021), as is done in this paper. The fact that the application of heuristic methods provides optimal solutions should be highlighted.…”
