In addition, Bhat et al (2018) identified variability between 18 silkworm breeds for phenotypic traits such as fecundity, hatching percentage, survival percentage, single cocoon weight, single shell weight and silk filament length (Bhat et al, 2018). Results of this type suggest that certain biological traits are specific for particular B. mori breeds and selective breeding strategies can enhance desired traits.…”
