Selective Adsorption of Hemoglobin in Human Whole Blood with a Nickel Monosubstituted Silicotungstic Acid Hybrid

Abstract: A nickel monosubstituted polyoxometalate (POM)/polyaniline organic–inorganic hybrid SiW 11 Ni/PANI was synthesized using the liquid-phase method at room temperature to achieve the solidification of water-soluble POMs. The SiW 11 Ni/PANI hybrid was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and zeta potential. On the basis of π–π stacking and affinity interaction between the … Show more

“…Several other POMs including lacunary POMs, [131,132] M-POMs, [133] and POM-composites, [134][135][136] along with materials based on the Anderson-Evans POM in conjugation with MOFs [137] or magnetic nanoparticles, [138] have been explored in recent years and have shown great potential for the selective isolation of proteins. Nevertheless, despite the demonstrated high selectivity, in all cases, the lack of information regarding the reusability of POMs and their ability to be used on a larger scale during the separation process, represents a critical limitation for their effective utilization in various applications.…”
