Selective Alkylation of Aromatic Five-Membered Heterocyclic Molecules

Abstract: A series of alkylated heterocycles were selectively prepared from the corresponding heterocyclic compounds with the phase transfer catalyst tetraoctylammoniumbromide (TOAB), as catalyst at 100 0 C temperatures. This present protocol demonstrates a simple alkylation procedure and has an extensive range of applicability and was applied to the furan, thiophene and pyrrole providing as another method for the research of these drug intermediates.
