Selective Membrane Complexation and Uranium Isotopes Analysis in Tap Water and Seawater Samples

Abstract: The complexation of U andU in tap water and seawater after the use of a selective membrane was examined. At the first step, many ligands were used for original membranes preparation and their yields in uranium analysis were evaluated by X-ray fluorescence, in order to select the ligand with the highest uranium selectivity in water samples. At the second step the new prepared membrane was used for uranium analysis by α-spectrometry. Various factors were tested for a more effective uranium binding such as a memb… Show more

“…The different content of the two iron oxides can provide information related to the firing conditions in which the phase transformations occurred and thus to discriminate recipes applied to produce imitations by different workshops in South Italy and Sicily (Pappalardo et al, 2016). The ligand environment of Hg has been studied by means of Hg-L 3 XANES analysis in the presence of Se in plants, fungi and animals, as well as in membranes used for the selective absorption of Hg (Kallithrakas-Kontos & Foteinis, 2016). In the case of biological samples Hg-XANES is applied synergistically with scanning XRF analyses to obtain first full quantitative imaging of elemental distribution.…”

“…LTA molecular sieve, which is an industrially important desiccant as a kind of zeolite molecular sieve [6]. Membrane separation was first used in cytology and is now widely known as its application in seawater desalination [7,8]. The field of biotechnology is developing rapidly, but 4A molecular sieves is rarely used in food.…”
