Selective Permeation of CO2 through Amine Bearing Facilitated Transport Membranes

Abstract: The membranes containing facilitated transport groups for Carbon dioxide had been prepared by immobilizing PAMAM ( Polyamidoamine) (Generations 0,1,2,3,4) dendrimer into the polymeric membranes. The dendrimer incorporated membranes were prepared by the phase inversion method. The permeation abilities of the membranes for pure CO 2 and binary mixture of CO 2 /N 2 were calculated. The effects of feed gas pressure on the permeability of the membranes were studied. The results of the permeation experiments showed … Show more

“…By embedding the particles in the polymer matrix, the membranes became more amorphous, and this result is consistent with the previous results described by Ghasemi et al [ 34 ]. Moreover, the membranes’ broad peaks were attributed to the compatibility and full homogeneity of membrane components [ 35 ]. Following the integration of the MOFs, the peak locations remained unchanged, demonstrating that there were no changes in the d-spacing of the polymer [ 27 ].…”

“…One of our recent works reported the incorporation of PAMAM (polyamidoamine) dendrimer of different generations into the polymer matrix. 96 This MMM was then subjected to CO 2 /N 2 separation, and a separation factor up to 215 was obtained. The adsorption of CO 2 an using amine-containing dendrimer-based membrane was also carried out in our previous study.…”

“…The adsorption of CO 2 an using amine-containing dendrimer-based membrane was also carried out in our previous study. 97 Another work from our group employed HF membrane contactor for CO 2 stripping with ethanol solution of the PAMAM dendrimer. 98 Although CNMs have not been used much in these previous studies, current development encourages researchers to explore them in the field of gas separation membranes.…”
