Selective, Photoenhanced Trapping/Detrapping of Arsenate Anions Using Mesoporous Blobfish Head TiO2 Monoliths

Abstract: The efficient and low-cost adsorption of arsenic toxins from drinking water is a global concern because of its adverse health effects. The simple extraction and eco-friendly environmental waste management of arsenic(V) species using hierarchy rutile TiO 2 were reported. Mesoporous microscale TiO 2 sphere 3D monoliths were successfully fabricated with uniform mesopores morphology-like blobfish head containing open nanoscale eyes through hydrothermal one-pot synthesis. The blobfish head TiO 2 (BHT) was mainly or… Show more

“…NanoTech Egypt is the only company in Egypt and the first in the Arab world to fabricate different nanomaterials. TiO 2 was synthesized through a self‐assembly process as described by Goma et al ., with some modification. Briefly, 2 g of TiF 4 was dissolved in 50 mL of isopropanol and Milli‐Q H 2 O (1:5:1 v/v/v) under mechanical stirring.…”

“…Titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) has many applications due to its wide pH range, high chemical stability, high photoactivity, and the presence of many active adsorption sites on the surface of the molecule that help in absorbing pollutants. Because of its high photoactivity, TiO 2 is widely applied as a water treatment for the removal of different pollutants . The antimicrobial effect of TiO 2 was first shown against Escherichia coli and this was followed by several studies using TiO 2 against a wide range of microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses .…”

“…In the preparation of these sensors, many porous materials with HMIs adsorption sites were widely applied in the research. For example, porous aluminosilica, [7,14] TiO 2 , [8b,15] and other inorganic materials were prepared for visual monitoring and removal of toxic ions in aqueous solution. Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) are porous materials composed of organic ligands and metal ions.…”

“…Fabrication of modified electrodes based on metal-oxide nanomaterials, such as CuO, NiO, TiO 2 and Co 3 O 4 , is widely considered because of their good biological compatibility, large surface area, and special physical and chemical properties [26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34]. NiO is a tran-ties.…”
