“…Various separation and preconcentration techniques have been used for trace metals, such as solvent extraction, [1][2][3] coprecipitation, [4][5][6] electrodeposition, 7 ion-exchange, [8][9][10] cloud point extraction technique 11 and solid-phase extraction 12 (SPE), adsorption on activated carbon, 13 on dithixone-anchored poly(EGDMA-HEMA) microbeads, 14 on Amberlite resins 15 and on sepiolite. 16 The preconcentration procedures employing a solid phase and applied to atomic spectrometry present some advantageous characteristics, such as simplicity, column applicability and a higher preconcentration factor.…”

“…The activity of the ligands and their Cr(III) and Fe(III) complexes has been compared with the activity of a common standard antibiotic Ampicillin and % Activity Index for the complexes has been calculated. The antibacterial results suggest that the ligands and their complexes (Tables 7) show a moderate activity against E. coli bacteria [40,41], as compared to the standard drug (Ampicillin) While the ligands and their complexes show no activity against B. Subtilis. The metal complexes show lower antibacterial activity than the corresponding ligand except [Cr(HL 2 )Cl 2 (H 2 O) ](H 2 O) which is higher than its ligand.…”

“…[2][3][4][5] Owing to the presence of iron in environmental and biological materials, and the lack of sufficient understanding of the role of the two oxidation states of this element, determination of both Fe(II) and Fe(III) is of great importance. [6][7][8] The speciation of iron(III) and iron(II) has been studied by different techniques such as electrothermal vaporization inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ETV-ICP-OES), polarography, 9,10 flow injection analysis, 11 voltammetry, 12 atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), 13 and capillary electrophoresis. 14 The lower concentration of this element relative to the detection limits of the instruments used, together with sources of interfering effects from the matrix of the real samples, are two main difficulties involved in these determinations.…”
