“…After three sessions, one every other week, a reduction of the lichenification was observed, and the skin began to heal ( Pozzi and Asero, 2010 ). More recently, daylight PDT with 5-aminolevulinic acid gel (Ameluz) was used to treat chronic hand eczema, half of them for atopic dermatitis ( Kremer et al, 2020 ). After three treatments at 2 week intervals, all the patients showed a significant clinical improvement and also in the quality of life, without significant side effects.…”

“…8 DL-PTD can be easily self-administered without professional assistance: treatment is completed within a single day and can be repeated at 3, 6, or 12 months of follow-up as deemed necessary, depending on the disease course. 9 In conclusion, self-administered DL-PDT is an effective and safe technique that can be useful in patients who require this treatment periodically. Individualizing each case can help decentralize care from the hospital setting and simultaneously empower patients.…”

“…PDT is non-invasive, and, in addition, the light stream can be focused on the target area thus avoiding the irradiation of healthy locations. Thus, PDT has been used in various medical procedures, such as dental procedures [8], dermatological problems [9,10], or in cancer treatment [11,12]. PDT is also used to inactivate different bacterial pathogens including uropathogenic strains [13][14][15].…”
