“…As one special treatment, photodynamic therapy (PDT) has drawn more attention due to its noninvasive property, high spatiotemporal performance, and weak side effect, which is distinguished from traditional treatment modalities such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Generally, the photosensitizers (PSs) could convert oxygen into cytotoxic singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ) for cancer cell apoptosis after specific light irradiation. However, since the excited light is hard to reach deep metastasis sites due to the limited penetration, their clinical application was confined on superficial tumors or lesions such as oral cancer, skin cancer, and esophageal cancer. Thus, the PDT efficacy and its application were seriously restricted by the wavelength of the light.…”
