“…A study by Kiermayer et al in 2004 [ 90 ] produced core-like particles using TBEV C; however, the size was 2–3 nm larger than the predicted core diameter of ~30 nm. Stabilization of the dimeric structure through the addition of a forced disulfide bond allowed the formation of core-like particles using DENV C. However, these particles contained no RNA [ 76 ]. Despite these efforts, no specific residues have been implicated in core formation, and the mechanism of core assembly remains unknown.…”
