Self‐Assembly Pathways of Triblock Janus Particles into 3D Open Lattices

Hossein Eslami,
Florian Müller‐Plathe

Abstract: The self‐assembly of triblock Janus particles is simulated from a fluid to 3D open lattices: pyrochlore, perovskite, and diamond. The coarse‐grained model explicitly takes into account the chemical details of the Janus particles (attractive patches at the poles and repulsion around the equator) and it contains explicit solvent particles. Hydrodynamic interactions are accounted for by dissipative particle dynamics. The relative stability of the crystals depends on the patch width. Narrow, intermediate, and wide… Show more

“…According to literature reports, the crystallization rate has a clear correlation with the activation energy of this process. Generally, k increases with a decrease in E a [ 84 , 85 ]. However, it should be emphasized that the crystallization rate is also significantly influenced by the viscosity of the mixtures, molecular interactions, and the degree of cooling.…”

“…The presence of the compatibilizer tends to restructure the flat interfaces. A more detailed analysis of this feature could be conducted in terms of a recently proposed method based on the determination of order parameters [ 38 ].…”

“…In order to accurately describe the simulation system, it is important to choose the appropriate order parameters. Depending on the actual simulation requirements, low rank or higher rank polynomials can be selected [ 51 ]. For the purpose of counting the number of orders in the trimodal PE system, the site order parameter ( SOP ) is used to calculate the local order parameter in this work [ 52 , 53 , 54 ].…”
