The literature reports on the main issues in order to implement self-care, but there are no models for the organization of the training course. “…Implementing a person-centered approach requires HPs to ask themselves what has been coined the Patient Dignity Question i.e., what they need to know about patients as individuals to give them the best care possible [ 25 ]. Self-reflection and self-care are fundamental if HPs are to avoid “the risk of undignified actions,” as suggested by other studies [ 26 , 27 ]. The self-care practice involves self-awareness, self-compassion, and implementing various strategies across inner life domains [ 19 , 20 ].…”

“…Consequently, the communication model operationalizes two aspects of human relationships: 1) authenticity, honesty, and trustworthiness, which are essential for establishing real communication [ 65 ] in a situation such as this, and 2) concrete ideas about practicing self-awareness and self-care before, during, and after end-of-life conversations. Particularly bearing in mind the risks of burnout and compassion fatigue among healthcare professionals, the importance of competence in dealing with dying and death must not be underestimated [ 28 , 66 ]. Consequently, educational interventions based on the model contain not only communication skills training for the actual conversation but provide important occasions for personal reflection and professional development in terms of compassionate care.…”

“…Furthermore, supervision and staff support are valuable tools for improving performance and expressing emotions and feelings that can arise within the group or some individuals ( Moghaddam, 2014 ; Adams et al, 2020 ; Buonaccorso et al, 2022 ). Nonetheless, this study suggests that healthcare professionals should be trained on the use of DT, as reported in the literature ( Montross et al, 2011 ; Mai et al, 2018 ; Schoppee et al, 2022 ).…”
