Abstract:This study proposes a novel triangular added damping and stiffness (TADAS) damper that uses the shape memory effect (SME) of iron-based shape memory alloy (Fe-SMA) to provide a self-centering system to recover the initial shape of a structure after significant inelastic deformation induced by nonlinear response of fused elements, without the need for difficult and expensive replacement procedures of conventional TADAS systems. Unlike most studies which consider simplified uniaxial behavior of Fe-SMAs, the pres… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
