In this study, 2,6-diacetylpyridine dioxime was synthesized from 2,6-diacetylpyridine and hydroxylamine hydrochloride as raw materials and bonded into the molecular chain of waterborne polyurethane as an alcohol chain extender, Subsequent addition of Cu 2+ interacted with the Schiff base structure in the WPU molecular chain to generate room-temperature self-healing polymeric materials with multiple dynamic bonds based on ligand bonds, oxime carbamates, and hydrogen bonds. Due to the synergistic effect of multiple dynamic bonds, DWPU-Cu 0.25 exhibited excellent mechanical properties (tensile strength of 11.9MPa and elongation at break of 1620%) and excellent room temperature self-healing ability (healing e ciencies of 89.1% and 95.8% for elongation at break and tensile strength, after 72 h of room temperature healing). Additionally, antibacterial experiments showed that DWPU-Cu lms can release copper ions and create antibacterial zones around polyurethane lms, demonstrating their use in the eld of antibacterial coatings. This work also opened up new possibilities for the synthesis of roomtemperature self-healing multifunctional waterborne polyurethanes.

Self‐healing polyurethane elastomers allow increasing the life cycle, adapting to the circular economy, thus reducing the generation of waste. In this work, ureido‐4[1H]‐pyrimidinone (UPy) compounds was used to construct on supramolecular polymer. The self‐healing polyurethane elastomers were successfully prepared by supramolecular polymer based on UPy via a simple blending way. The self‐healing performance of the polyurethane elastomers with UPy were investigated by the scratch test and the cut‐off test, respectively. The scratch of the self‐healing polyurethane elastomer (PU‐15UPy) was totally healed in 1 h at 35°C. The tensile strength and the elongation at break of PU‐15UPy were 0.81 MPa and 563.8%. After the cut‐off test, the healing efficiencies of tensile strength were 63.8% (0.51 MPa) and 85.2% (0.69 MPa) after healing for 10 h at 35 and 80°C, respectively. The healing efficiency of tensile strength reached the value of 90.1% (0.73 MPa) after healing for 24 h at 80°C. The chemical resistance of the self‐healing polyurethane elastomers was tested by immersion in water, NaCl solution (3%), HCl solution (5%), NaOH solution (5%), and diesel, respectively. The mass loss of self‐healing polyurethane elastomers were all less than 2% after immersed in these solutions for 1 month, indicating the excellent chemical resistance performance of PU‐15UPy.

Self‐healing research based on commercial polymeric materials (such as polyurethane) is beneficial to sustainable development by prolonging the life of materials. However, developing polymeric materials that integrate robust mechanical properties with self‐healing ability at ambient temperature remains a formidable challenge. The formation of polymeric materials by physically and chemically dual crosslinking structures is a powerful method to improve mechanical properties. Herein, a series of dual crosslinking self‐healing polyurethane have been designed and successfully synthesized by incorporating 2‐ureido‐4[1H]‐pyrimidinone (UPy) units and triethanolamine (TEOA) into the polymer networks. Relying on the reinforcement of chemical crosslinking which is induced by TEOA, the resulting polyurethane exhibited robust strength of 10.3 MPa and elongation at break of 569.4%, which are quite prominent compared with previous reports. At the same time, the recombination of hydrogen bonds makes the polyurethane with UPy structure achieve rapid self‐healing after 24 h at 40°C and the strength recovered to 4.98 MPa. This work provided a novel way to fabricate sustainable polyurethane with robust mechanical properties.
