“…Attention and retention demands of multi-step tasks may pose particular difficulties for students with ASD who are characterized as having difficulties shifting attention between auditory and visual stimuli and attending to salient features of task stimuli (Quill). Picture-based systems are one form of visual support that has been described in the research literature to be effective with students with ASD (Lancioni and O'Reilly 2001;Mechling 2007).
