Self-organizing relay network supporting remotely deployed sensor nodes in military operations

Abstract: Data acquisition is an important task to provide context awareness of a military operation scenario in order to support informed decisions. Wireless sensor networks (WSN) play a remarkable service in this context by collecting data on remote areas to support decision support systems in control centers. However, due to the nature of the locations where they are deployed, it is out of the question provision a conventional communication infrastructure to access them. Thus, alternative communications approaches ha… Show more

“…2) The RS-CPS system should be driven by events, which are either "raw facts" reported by sensor unites or "actions" made by actuator unites. 3) In an unified event model, any event should contain built-in properties, such as global reference time, lifespan, confidence and confidence fading equation, digital signature and authentication code, trustworthiness, dependability, and criticalness etc. 4) By using publish and subscribe scheme, each control unit act as a human being in that it only subscribes to interesting events based on its system goal, and publish event when necessary.…”

“…There are two segments of the flying ubiquitous sensor networks: terrestrial and flying. The terrestrial segment is represented as a classical ubiquitous sensor network (Abakumov and Koucheryavy 2014;Vybornova and Koucheryavy 2014;Futahi et al 2015), and the flying segment as one or several of UAV-P (Sahingoz 2014;De Freitas et al 2010;Orfanus et al 2014). Actively developing medical wireless body area networks (WBAN) are : -Wearable smart fitness electronics, which acts as a mentor in the observance of a healthy way of life (sleep, physical activity, etc.).…”
