“…Huang et al, 4 for example, showed that DSSPR can give rise to asymmetric lap joints whenever the rivets are incorrectly positioned and aligned with the sheets or have obliquities resulting from their fabrication process. The work made use of aluminium AA6063 sheets with 2.4 mm thickness and AISI 304 stainless steel tubular rivets with 0.8 mm thickness and suggests the inclusion of outer 4 or inner flanges 5 at the mid tubular rivet height to reduce the risk of obtaining asymmetric joints.
