Abstract:We present a theoretical study of the influence of the direct coupling of the average lattice strains to the active ions on the behaviour of a Cr3 : LISAF gain switching laser. It is found that the resulting nonlinear time-dependent lensing effect combined with an internal hard aperture behaves as a saturable absorber. A resulting self-Q-switching is observed from the calculated laser pulses.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
