“…Several studies examined the correlation between this scale and objective tests of face recognition ability, finding an overall medium correlation 57,58 . In this study, we administered the Italian version of the PI-20 45 ; our results align with previous findings, as we found a moderate negative correlation between PI-20 scores and face recognition accuracy. This means that, at least to some extent, individuals who perceive they have difficulties in recognizing faces perform coherently lower in recognizing famous faces.…”

Elevated PI-20 scores indicate more pronounced difficulties in face recognition, likely aligning with poorer performance in recognition tasks 45 . Several studies examined the correlation between this scale and objective tests of face recognition ability, finding an overall medium correlation 57,58 .…”

“…All participants completed the Italian version of the Prosopagnosia Index-20 (PI-20) 47 , a self-report measure of face subjective recognition abilities. Twenty statements reflecting face recognition experiences are included in the scale; respondents indicate how accurately the statements describe them on a five-point scale (from 1 = “Totally disagree” to 5 = “Totally agree”).…”
