Semantic upgrade and normalization of existing EHR extracts

Abstract: We present the mapping and data transformation capabilities of LinkEHR-Ed, a visual tool to construct formal definitions of medical concepts in the form of archetypes which can be defined on the basis on multiple electronic health record architecture such as ISO 13606. With LinkEHR-Ed, users can enrich archetypes with mapping information which captures the relationship between relational or XML data sources and archetype structures. This mapping information is then analyzed and compiled into an XQuery expressi… Show more

“…It was tested at the General University Hospital of Valencia and obtained good results in the mapping of information between systems at a structural and conceptual level. 44 The ISO 13606 standard needs to evolve toward its usage as a central repository, valuing the reuse and standardization of archetypes around the world. 45 On the other hand, the openEHR standard is evidenced by the extensive repository of published archetypes, available for use, adaptation, and continuity of clinical concepts known as CKM.…”

“…In summary, LinkEHR-Ed combines the formal representation of knowledge of a health domain expert in the form of archetypes (steps 1 and 2), with mapping information to clinical data sources for the standardization and semantic description of existing information (steps 3 and 4). Since this paper is focused on archetype editing only the two first steps will be considered in the rest of this section, for a more detailed introduction to archetype mappings we refer the reader to [31].…”
