Semi‐active reduction of vibrations in the mechanical system driven by an electric motor

Abstract: Summary In this paper, a semi‐active damping approach is used for reduction of vibrations in a laboratory drivetrain system. The considered drivetrain system is powered by an electric, asynchronous motor at the one side and loaded with a harmonically varying torque on the other side. Here, an influence of electromechanical interaction, i.e., an electromechanical coupling, between the electric motor and the mechanical system has been taken into consideration. The harmonic load signal induces torsional vibration… Show more

“…Bilinear state‐space models are simple nonlinear dynamic models that appear in approximations of nonlinear systems and in many practical modern control problems . Examples for application of bilinear models can be found in various fields, such as quantum mechanics, chaotic dynamics, biology, and mechanical damping . On the one hand, their nonlinear nature turns the control design into a nonlinear one.…”

“…Examples of semi-active methods are presented in the paper by Lee at al. (2006) [6], where the authors utilized a magnetorheological damper to reduce vibration of an 8-story steel braced building, or in the paper by Michajlow et al (2017) [7], where an electric motor was used to attenuate vibration of a rotating mechanical structure.…”
