Sepsis Treatment Strategies Based on Nanomaterials^※

Abstract

Sepsis is a life-threatening disease caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Its pathogenesis is complex, and despite some advances in recent years, the mortality rate is still 25% to 30%. Sepsis treatment based on nanomaterials can be constructed for the purpose of eliminating infection sources and eliminating inflammation, which is an effective tool to fight sepsis. In this paper, the latest progress in the treatment of sepsis based on nanomaterials is reviewed. From the perspective of its pathogenesis, the nanomaterials for the treatment of sepsis based on antibacterial, scavenging of reactive oxygen species, and scavenging of dangerous molecules is reviewed in detail. And the problems and challenges facing the potential treatment in the future are discussed. The new challenges facing the treatment of sepsis using nanomaterials are also discussed in the hope to provide new ideas and solutions for sepsis treatment.
