“…The availability of nucleotide sequences of BBWV-1 (Kobayashi et al, 1999a(Kobayashi et al, ,b, 2003Ferrer et al, 2005), BBWV-2 (Ikegami et al, 1998(Ikegami et al, , 2000Nakamura et al, 1998;Kuroda et al, 2000;Lee et al, 2000;Qi et al, 2000a,b;Koh et al, 2001;Ferrer et al, 2011), GeMV (Kobayashi et al, 2005) and CuMMV (Dong et al, 2012) has enabled the development of more sensitive and specific diagnostic methods based on molecular hybridization and reverse transcription, followed by polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). These techniques include: (1) molecular hybridization for the detection of BBWV-1 (Ferrer et al, 2008); (2) real time RT-PCR for specific detection and quantification of BBWV-1 and BBWV-2 ; and (3) simultaneous detection and identification of BBWV-1, BBWV-2 and GeMV using conserved primers (Ferrer et al, 2007).…”
